CLICK DAY #2

Hi friends,

GUESS WHAT. I made it two months! Happy click-day to me! *Clicks my pen twice* (Click day is how ever many months from when you left home, so missionaries click their pen how ever many months they have been out for) I LOVE being a missionary. Being away from home is hard, but Heavenly Father has showered me with blessings since I have been out here and I have learned so much more about the scriptures and Jesus Christ and what He did for us.

Okay, Sister Lively, oh man. She cracks me up! One day we are getting ready for bed and she comes out of the bathroom after taking a shower and says to me, "I know something really funny you can say!" and I say, "Okay, what is it?"  And she says "Since your last name is 'Willis', you could introduce yourself to people and say, 'First things first I'm a Willis.'" It was hilarious.

Sister Lively and I Being Cute

One day we went to visit with Kevin and Sabrina. I think I mentioned them in my first letter while I was here in Kentucky. We haven't been able to meet with them for a long time because they both lost their jobs and have been very busy trying to find a new one. We finally we able to catch them one day and Kevin came outside to talk to us for a few minutes and they had a friend who came out side too. He introduced himself to us as "Rosta" and he was a creep. I know I shouldn't judge, but seriously, we were creeped out! Kevin walked over to his truck to get something and Rosta was talking to us. He told us that he wasn't interested because he worshiped God in his own way. He kept saying things like, "You know what I'm saying?" and "Man it's like this..". He was like a 50 year old hippie! But here's the creepy part! He looked over at me and said, "Your so cute. Oh my gosh." and then he looks at Sister Lively and touches her face! And he says, "I like your mole."  WHAT?  CREEPY! Rosta went back inside and we told Kevin that he was weird and then Kevin says, "Yeah, he's a loony tune!" HAHA, oh man.

Apart from humor/creeper highlights, I have learned so much this week. I really liked church on Sunday. Sister Lively had the opportunity to give a talk on Sunday. She was super nervous, but she did AWESOME! The topic was, "Being Genuine in the Gospel" from President Uchtdorf's talk in this last conference called, "On Being Genuine".  I learned that we live in a whole where people are always trying to be better than the last! Nobody is ever comfortable to be themselves, and as we are trying to be someone we are not, we can loose ourselves. It reminded me of the scripture in 1 Samuel where it is talking about how man looketh on the outward appearance, but The Lord looketh on the heart. Heavenly Father knows the desires of our hearts and when we act on those desires, if they are good desires, our faith and testimonies will be strengthened. When we are genuine, we are able to find ourselves and we can be truly happy. We can find joy in the service of others. "When you are in the service of your fellow beings, you are in the service of your God. "

"Preach the Gospel at all times, and if necessary use words." - President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Sister Lively shared this quote in her talk, and I love it. People are aware of our actions and they see our example. We can share the gospel with others so simply by setting a good example. People will see the joy and happiness that the gospel has brought to your life and their hearts will soften as they desire that happiness as well. I know that setting a good example is one of the easiest and hardest things to do sometimes, but I know it can bless your life, as well as the lives of others.

SO MUCH LOVE YOU TO ALL

Letters are VERY important for missionaries! If you have a minute, it would be wonderful to hear from all of you. I'm still here :)

  1. Hi, Sister Willis,
One thing about your mission, you will meet all kinds of people. I never heard about clicking a pen, but what we used to do was we were required to take vitamins every day, and when you had only a couple of months left, you would count the vitamins left instead of counting the days.

I was counting the days, but still enjoying it to much I didn't want to go home. We had a baptism on my last day in the mission, and on that day I realized that now I FINALLY know how to be a good missionary. By, then it was too late. Like deathbed repentance.

God bless you in your labors.
